The Client

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) is more than just a fashion show — it’s a powerful celebration of Indigenous creativity, resilience, and cultural expression. Scheduled for November 20-23, 2024, at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Theatre, VIFW serves as a platform for Indigenous designers, artists, and makers to showcase their work while fostering connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. With four unique nights — Red Dress Night, Couture Night, Streetwear Night, and Spirit of the West Coast Night — this event is a transformative experience that blends high fashion with deep cultural significance.

The Problem

Despite its incredible lineup of designers, artists, and performers, VIFW remained one of Vancouver’s best-kept secrets.

  • Attendance was lower than it should be due to limited marketing and brand awareness.
  • The Maker’s Market — where Indigenous artists and makers sell their work — needed stronger promotion to drive sales and visibility.
  • VIFW wanted to create a truly inclusive space where Indigenous and non-Indigenous attendees could come together through a shared love of fashion, art, and storytelling.
  • With only six weeks until launch, there was no time to waste — VIFW needed a full-scale marketing campaign to fill the seats, generate buzz, and drive sales.

What We Did

We executed a high-impact, multi-channel marketing campaign to turn VIFW into one of the most anticipated events of the year:

  • Launched a full-scale holistic marketing campaign that included website updates, social media strategy, email marketing, Meta ads, PR, online advertising, print marketing, and engagement campaigns.
  • Executed a brand awareness campaign that targeted both Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences, ensuring VIFW was recognized as a must-attend cultural event.
  • Built excitement for all four unique nights, tailoring messaging and promotional efforts to highlight each theme and attract the right audiences.
  • Drove attendance to the Maker’s Market, ensuring Indigenous designers and artisans received the exposure and sales they deserved.

The Outcome

The results were nothing short of groundbreaking:

  • 255% increase in sales revenue, setting a new benchmark for VIFW.
  • $500,000 in vendor market sales — a 500% increase over previous years, creating incredible economic impact for Indigenous makers.
  • Sold out every single night at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, solidifying VIFW’s place as a must-attend event in Vancouver’s cultural calendar.
  • Attracted new sponsors and long-term supporters, helping to fund future editions of VIFW.
  • Established valuable relationships with stakeholders, local businesses, and industry sponsors, ensuring sustained growth and visibility.
  • Created a platform for Indigenous artists to be seen, celebrated, and heard on a larger stage.
  • Drove record-breaking ticket sales and conversions, making this the most successful VIFW to date.

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week is no longer the city’s best-kept secret — it’s now a cultural movement that continues to grow, inspire, and bring communities together.
